Flamsteed House

The original Observatory building at Greenwich, designed by Sir Christopher Wren in 1675 on the instructions of King Charles II. the house was built with reclaimed materials from the Tower of London and Tilbury Fort. The first astronomer royal, John Flamsteed's modest quarters are in contrast to the beautiful Octagon Room which was designed to observe celestial events including eclipses, comets and planetary movements.
