Summers Place Auctions Ltd

Summers Place Auctions was the world's leading auctioneers of Garden Statuary and Natural History. Their first sale was held over thirty years ago as part of Sotheby's Country House sale room at Summers Place in Sussex; their auction's established a global reputation.

Summers Place Auctions has now closed.

Historical Note:
Their sales were started under the direction of James Rylands at Billingshurst in 1986. James, founder of Summers Place Auctions with Rupert Werff, had previously initiated the sales of Garden Statuary at Sotheby's. In the 1990's James, realising the importance of setting a standard in the selling and buying of architectural antiques and salvage joined the Salvo Code member steering group. This led to Summers Place Auctions becoming one of the original Salvo Code members. James Rylands retired in 2023 and Rupert held the final auctions in 2025.
