Georgian Wooden Fire Surround
£ 1,500
This is a wooden Georgian fire surround that was part of the original fittings from Leek (Staffordshire) Town Hall when it was built in 1806. It was removed from the Town Hall in 1988 prior to it being demolished and was installed in a private house. There are likely photographs of the fireplace in situ in Leek Library archives.
The overall size is 224cm high x 198cm wide. The size of the opening for the fire is 102cm high x 115cm wide.
The surround and mirrors are in very good condition apart from a small area on the right hand side of the mantle piece that I have tried to show in the last photograph.
I am unsure what wood this is made from, maybe oak?
The fireplace has been removed and is being stored.
Collection by purchaser.
