We have 2 of these cream chimney stacks available, manufactured by J Stiff and Sons in the late 19th Century.James Stiff, a former employee of Doulton, established his own business in 1842 making water filters in Lambeth, London. In 1863 he expanded the business with his sons to produce a range of stoneware urns and plinths. Though similar to Coade pottery, the clay body of items by J.Stiff & Sons is generally stamped with the makers oval shaped mark and is more yellow in colour.
