Thirty of the most 'stand out' antique stores for the breadth of stock, rarity and beauty of items in the U.S. are featured, including a few architectural salvage stores. All are listed below, and you will also find them in the SalvoWEB U.S. directory.

Black Dog Salvage

Starting a salvage business was not intentional. In 1999, Mike needed a garage built; Robert came to advise him. The two found kindred souls in each other, having both served in the Navy. After lamenting the pending demolition of a local 1892 landmark filled with architectural details, they took a chance, made a salvage offer and began saving the house piece by piece.

In a warehouse Mike had rented for another project, with Mike's black dog Molly by his side, they turned over an old vinyl sign – wrote 'SALVAGE' – and moments later, a customer pulled into the parking lot. They haven't looked back since. Robert's attention to detail coupled with Mike's creative problem-solving skills has created the framework for this successful partnership.

Black Dog Salvage quickly outgrew the original location on Franklin Road and purchased a 44,000 square warehouse near Historic Grandin Village in Roanoke, VA. The business has since evolved from a 'down and dirty' salvage warehouse to an interior design showroom featuring architectural details, custom upcycled designs, furniture paint, regional artisans, and salvage-inspired furniture.  Home of the successful Salvage Dawgs television show on HGTV and DIY Network, which ran from 2012 to 2020. They welcome visitors from across the globe.

Foxglove Antiques

Foxglove provides one-of-a-kind pieces of furniture, lighting, original artwork, and accessories. It also offers a selection of architectural and garden antiques, including columns and doors.

Sheila Benson began Foxglove Antiques as a tiny shop in the West Village of Buckhead in 2000. It has been carefully nurtured into the 15,000 square-foot gallery shared by over a dozen curated international dealers. Foxglove Antiques & Galleries has continued to set the mark for elevated interiors with a classic, refined style. Sourcing directly from European markets for the finest antiques.

Sheila says, 'From the beginning, our collection has been full of contrasts. Our choices reflect patina and soul and an enduring style that anyone would find irresistible. Antiques enrich our surroundings and lives, creating welcoming homes that inspire and comfort us.'

CasaGusto

The collection includes antique furniture and art. It also includes architectural objects, such as columns, doors, shutters, plinths, gates, and niches.

'Sexy and provocative is the goal, as well as wanting to repurchase everything in the shop for myself,' says Cris Briger, co-proprietor with her sons Charles Peed and Pablo Briger. The three exude excitement for all that is within. It is a very personal journey sought after and now going public in a mutual love of the hunt, chase, and capture of all that is…..Gusto. The word, Gusto in both Spanish and Italian captures a vibrant feeling of taste and pleasure.

The Casa Gusto store opened its doors on Georgia Avenue in West Palm Beach, Florida, in November 2018. The space is filled with goods, old and new, gathered and invented around the globe.

Studio Gusto is the interior design extension, headed by Cris Briger. Cris creates, rescues, and revives the spaces where one lives. Each space, small or large, is re-envisioned with her style, inspired by her life, travels and interests that reflect the occupants' wishes—a layered sense of history, style, function and comfort.

Lolo French Antiques

Laurent Gouon is the founder and owner of Lolo French Antiques et More, based in Birmingham, AL. Lolo, as he is affectionately known, has the French sense of joie de vivre and incorporates the joy of living into every aspect of his life, whether furniture, food, family, or folly.

Lolo attended a French culinary school in his early teens, but wanderlust found him in the United States by the age of seventeen. While working as a carpenter on a sailboat, he realized his passion for working with his hands.

His late father, Maurice, proposed the idea of importing European antiques to the United States, and it was with his help and guidance, Lolo began buying and importing antiques. Finding extraordinary pieces has become Lolo's passion for over twenty years. He travels and buys from all over France, searching through markets and fairs, manors and chateaus, dimly lit warehouses and backstreet alleys lined with family owned shops, for one-of-a-kind finds for the home.

Stock includes chandeliers, mirrors, stunning decorative Italian window frames, garden urns and olive jars.
