Two men called Bob seen here training for a Harvest Gold medal at the BrokenBog secret bobsleigh training ground in deepest Churt. Practice sessions were so secret that no names were forthcoming for the daring duo.
Bob the pilot seemed to be working on his terribly realistic look of shocked horror, while Bob the brakeman looked cool and relaxed.
Subtle steering adjustments are necessary to guide the sled at speeds up to 80 miles per hour, to avoid a crash. Well yes, the steering adjustments would be fairly subtle since the sled in the picture seems to be lacking runners and steering rings. The pilot normally does the steering, and the brakeman stops the sled at the finish by pulling the sled's brake lever - which he can be seen miming in the photo. Well done, lads, we salute your bravery.
We know less about the four men training in the second photo, but believe it might be Winston Watts, Marvin Dixon and friends of the Jamaican entry for the four man squad Olympic, this time in a Whisper Pink bath.
