Sarasota Architectural Salvage (SAS) has been a place to rummage and discover unique artifacts and treasures since 2003. Customers have included restoration specialists, designers, builders and the general public. Dust and rust have been seen as part of the charm of exploring the warehouse for hidden treasures.
 
Now, though, the original warehouse will concentrate on the architectural elements, lumber and other building materials. While customers who prefer to purchase furniture and other pieces that have already been restored or upcycled can visit their new division, SAS Mercantile. Items suitable for a customer's own project will also be easy to find, such as a door to make into a bed head, which may encourage people to venture into a warehouse and discover reclaimed and salvaged stuff.
 
Jesse White, owner of SAS, wants the new space to show off 'wow' pieces, aiming to become part of the Sarasota Design District and the goto place for unique pieces with added history and craftsmanship. Jesse has chosen a location in the industrial outskirts of downtown Sarasota based in the historic Old Ice House, built in 1946, which was originally an old ice and beermaker's and more recently an art gallery. A grand opening is planned in December timed to coincide with the company's annual holiday charity event.
 
SAS will have a division to suit the needs of all of its customers and will continue its mission to support historic preservation, restoration, and adaptive reuse while offering customer service through trust, support, teamwork, innovation and celebration. Architectural salvage shopping will be more accessible to the general public - and fun.
