Making tables and stools from the kind of wooden spool that cables are wound around can be seen all over the place outside at big festivals, but this tarted up example is particularly big and looks perfect in this funky eclectic family dining room.
Mother of six, Cheltz and her partner reduced the diameter of the base so chairs could get in close to the table top. They also reduced the height of the table top from its original 48 inches to around 30 inches, glued some old carpet to the bottom to stop it scratching the floor and painted the whole thing in a water-based wood preservative.
The various stages of the project have been posted with photographs, along with many other stories, on their blog 'Penelope's Pad'.
