Wellers Auctioneers are pleased to announce another successful sale result on the weekend of the 15th June when they travelled to Beeston reclamation in Cheshire. Some 1,400 lots were offered over 2 days. The object of the sale was to clear stock to make way for new purchases and this was certainly achieved with a clearance rate of just over 90%. The first day consisted of mainly salvaged materials, doors and radiators and as always small quantities of tiles and bricks were hard to sell but notwithstanding this most changed hands. Lots on the first day included pallets of Yorkstone paving which were mainly of awkward dimension and generally changed hands for around £40 per square yard. Yorkstone walling sold to £60 per ton and Granite setts to £40 ton.

Much more interest was shown in the second day which consisted of mainly garden features, fireplaces and finer antiques. Top prices paid were for thirteen Brazilian mahogany room panels which made £5,000, a very large hand-hewn sandstone trough which made £2,750, a decent pair of drive gates £1,300, an Irish butcher's block £450, a Feral stone fireplace made £600, a sandstone entrance way £1,500 and many other lots sold at £300 to £500. As always the demand for troughs, benches, chimney pots, wagon wheels and garden rollers seemed insatiable with the top price a strap bench at £460.

Wellers are also pleased to announce the first of what is hoped to be a series of regular architectural auction sales at the Kitsmead saleground close to their Surrey headquarters in Chertsey (J11 M25). The sale will include a good range of general architectural antiques including garden furniture and statuary as well as fire surrounds, lighting and reclaimed materials including limestone flooring.

Wellers are well known for holding architectural auctions on clients' premises having conducted ten such sales in the last two years and many more prior to that. Indeed, senior auctioneer and director Glen Snelgar held his first sale back in 1988 for Graham Hooke at the well known Hampshire yard of Glover and Stacey whilst based at Guildford Cattle market where he also established regular sales of agricultural bygones. Wellers now hold regular auctions of antiques, decorative art, jewellery and watches in their Guildford and Chertsey salerooms.

Over the past three years Wellers have received several requests from well known yards to establish a regular venue for a collective sale of fine architectural antiques and reclaimed materials in southern England.
