Brighton and Hove Recycling Project have been making furniture for the newly refurbished space in London called The Old Vinyl factory. The old EMI factory buildings in Hayes are set to become a new business park. The central cafe and meeting space, The Vinyl Canteen was designed by the artist Luke Morgan. The tables were designed and built by Luke Morgan and Morag Myerscough. The tabletops were made by The Wood Recycling Project in Brighton from reclaimed beams.
The Old Vinyl Factory site is still developing and Will Self recently launched The Vinyl Lounge with a seminar discussing Future Towns. They have also been filming bands in the original buildings to produce a whole catalogue of new music being made in the place where vinyl was born. The website also has some rare footage of George Harrison's album, Living in the Material World, being pressed at The Old Vinyl Factory in 1973.
