1stdibs acquires Online Galleries

Michael Bruno's New York based online antiques marketplace 1stdibs Inc has acquired Carmine Bruno's (no relation) Online Galleries, web shop provider to Lapada and Bada members. The announcement will be made at Lapada's forthcoming fair at Berkeley Square, which this year is sponsored by 1stdibs.
 
The internet combination will feature stocks from architectural and garden antiques dealers such as Uniquities in Canada and Barbara Israel in New York on 1stdibs, and Architectural Heritage and Nick Gifford-Mead in Britain at Online Galleries - all Salvo Code dealers.
 
Carmine Bruno told ATG that his and Michael Bruno's visions were closely aligned on high quality art, antiques and luxury goods and the people selling them. 1stdibs was started in 2001 and now has 1,300 dealers in antiques, art, jewellery, fashion and real estate. According to the ATG every 1stdibs dealer is a vetted full time trade professional and operates from a bricks-and-mortar premises many of which have been inspected by 1stdibs.
 
Operating across seven countries, from the US and Mexico to major European centres including the UK, France, the Netherlands and Belgium, there is a waiting list of close to 1000 dealers wanting to sign up, says Michael Bruno.
