Late 13thC castle buiilt by Roger Mortimer; 1595 bought for 5,000 GBPounds by Sir Thomas Myddelton; 1719 Robert & John Davies of Croesfoel Forge, near Bersham, Wrexham commissioned by Sir Richard Myddelton to make wrought iron gates with iron from Sir Richard's nearby Pont-y-Blew Forge; 1771 William Emes landscapes grounds; 1872 Richard Myddleton Biddulph plants yew hedges (still there).
