For Sale: VW Transporter T4…..1993…Amazing condition….Only 15,000 miles from new

Purchased new from Hartwell VW in Birmingham, in 1993, this van was not used for work, but just as a car…….

The owner used it for a few years, but on falling ill, he had it put in storage…..A few years later it was taken out of storage and put back on the road for a short time, and then back into storage.

I purchased this vehicle in 2016 when it came up for sale as part of the effects from an estate…..At this moment in time the Transporter had only covered 9000 miles.

The van was offered for sale after light recommissioning, and was mot,d and I drove it down to Kent from the midlands……

I had no particular use for the van, but having owned classic cars and motorbikes all my life, I just couldn’t resist buying this unique vehicle….

Further works were carried out by my local garage who specialise in classics, and then it was tucked away in the corner of my commercial unit fully covered and protected and put on Sorn.

The van has just had £ 2000.00 spent on it as part of the latest recommissioning, by another specialist classic car restorer, including all new brakes, some electrics, suspension overhaul and new springs, minor wheel arch repairs, full paint cut and polish, and more…..The vehicle has a fresh 12 months MOT with no advisories, and drives beautifully……The body has its original paint with as mentioned just a couple of finger nail sized repairs to the front wheel arches……The body, chassis, upholstery, and mechanics are in remarkable condition, and with a total mileage now of just 15,000, this can only be described as unique.

It is sitting on its original wheels, with virtually new tyres, plus I have a set of T6 brand new alloy wheels and tyres, to go with it if the asking price is met…..It also has a complete custom cover as seen on the images.

It could easily go straight into a private collection, or classic vehicle museum……It could of course be converted to a classic camper, or used daily as a van…..

Just to confirm, this van has not been repainted except for the minor front whell arches, and therefore its original condition is totally viewable, as opposed to a repainted / restored ? vehicle which potentially covers up a multitude of sins.....

There is a 1995 minibus, Japanese import advertised on eBay currently at £ 11,000.00 with 175,000 miles on the clock, and another 1996 with 77,000 miles on it for £ 13,995.00…..look them up as this will give you a comparison….

Just to add I have just driven the T4 for 2 hours along the South East Coast which was the greatest pleasure.......I needed to add a couple of bits of information.....firstly the van has two keys and the original radio......As I am torn between selling and keeping I am considering having an electronic power steering unit installed by " Lite-Steer " who retro fit electronic power steering units to classic vehicles and they are well reported for the quality of their installations....look them up .....the conversion is easily reversed if you want.......I have not made up my mind yet but if to all the multiple watchers, and all the people who have messaged me as they are on holiday....if you want the vehicle non converted on this power steering scenario, let me know as it would be helpful to know the preference.....Jack, thanks for the message and I understand you are away in New Zealand for 3 months bt I can not hold it if someone wants to purchase......Thanks for all the interest....This van is a one off.....Bob
