Leslie Hindman held a sale of a thousand lots from the 50,000sqft Denver showrooms of Eron Johnson Antiques on the weekend of June 23rd. Joint top lot of a varied mix of antiques and architectural antiques from around the world, was a white marble figure of Eve carved by Thomas Ball in Rome in 1867, which sold for $14,640 hammer price.
At thirty-five Thomas Ball went to Florence, where with an interval of work in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1857- -1865, he remained for more than thirty years, being one of the artistic colony which included Robert and Elizabeth Barrett Browning and Hiram Powers. He returned to America in 1897, and lived in Montclair, New Jersey, with a studio in New York City.
