 FOR SALE : UPDATED 20/07/2006 - LARGE STAINED GLASS WINDOWS
The windows were salvaged from a private chapel constructed in 1935 for the Poor Sisters of Charity of St Vincent de Paul at a convent / hospital they ran just South of Edinburgh. The chapel was used regularly for over 60 years and was one of the locations in Scotland where the late Pope John Paul 11 celebrated mass during his visit in 1982.
The hospital closed in 1999 and the chapel was deconsecrated. The purchaser of the buildings wished to demolish the chapel and several other outbuildings and we negotiated the architectural salvage of the building and its contents. We have used several of the windows in our own building project and are delighted with the aesthetics they help to achieve.
There are 8 windows in total (4 "Small" and 4 large)
The large windows Measure - Height: 3350mm (132'' or 11') - Width: 1170 mm (46'' or 3' 10'')
The "Small" windows measure - Height 2850 mm (112'' or 9' 4'') - Width: 1170 mm (46'' or 3'10'')
They have no religious characteristics and are simply comprised of geometric shapes of various colours typical of the period.
All windows are in excellent condition, all glass is original with no evident cracking. The leadwork is in pristine condition and again all original.
The windows are encased in a cast iron frame which has been painted white on the outside. The window frame is constructed from mahogany (or a very similar hardwood) and is in very good condition with no evidence of rot or damage.
We are willing to sell these windows individually but naturally be pleased if they were to be sold together.
The height of these windows can easily be altered as we have done this with several of them already

 FOR SALE : VICTORIAN STAIN GLASS WINDOW
a truly magnificent traditional victorian stained glass window made up in six sections and consisting of over 900 individual pieces of glass, each hand stained and kiln fired.
the centre pieces of this stunningly beautiful example of antique craftsmanship contains the coat of arms of the township of rochdale, lancashire, england, in the united kingdom, of which depicts eight birds, along with the woolsack still used to this day by the speaker in the houses of parliament. plus the inscription: “crede signo”- this translates from latin to “believe in the sign”.
the second coat of arms has a fluer de lys, one of which is above the helmet with visor from the suit of armour of a knight, this would have had noble connections. the inscription on this coat of arms reads “je sui prest” which translates to “i am ready”- this inscription has a french connection.
this window is a most impressive work of art that would grace any period style home or anyone looking to renovate with a theme of english heritage.
dimensions
the window as a whole measures 42”wide, x 117”high, and would be best suited to be re-installed into stone mullions and transoms. each of the 4 panels measure: 181/2”wide, x 421/2”high, plus two centre pieces at: 181/2” x 181/2”.
the stained glass panels have been removed and restored from their original windows at ‘beaumonds’, rochdale, lancashire, england.
‘beaumonds’ is the original mill-owners house; the owner was leonard tweedale, of tweedale & smalley and the coats of arms is his.
this window can be fitted in the country of your choice, by the traditional methods used when it was first fitted in england by stained glass craftsmen. to the right buyer this magnificent window could be worth over 10 times the asking price.

2 stained glass pannels measuring 4 feet by 20 feet. There were originally in a church and latter used in a restaurant on the ceiling. They come with a steel frame for mounting. The first or top one is curved and the others form a decorative design not necessarily religious.
