 FOR SALE : C1962 KOFOD LARSEN FOR G PLAN LOW TEAK SIDEBOARD C1962 Kofod Larsen for G Plan low teak Sideboard.
Designed and produced in the early 60's with the intention of staving off the Scandinavian competition. G Plan, a good mainstream English company, for a spell reached the dizzy heights of quality and fine design by introducing a series of Kofod Larsen designed pieces. This sideboard, an expensive item in its day, was one of the first of that series.
At a shorter more convenient length, the sideboard shows a clean line and compact form. A quality, well thought out piece which uses a number of forms of contrast to full effect. Hard lined body set on a slightly organic base. Darker square solid rosewood handles, combine with dark teak undercarriage and outline. All set against a mid tone teak body and front. As a final touch, a simple, more reflective cut of teak has been used on the drawer fronts whilst a subtle, well figured grain of teak was applied to doors and body. G Plan at its best.
In sympathetically re-polished condition, the sideboard is clean sharp and ready to go.

 FOR SALE : EARLY ROBERT MOUSEMAN THOMPSON OAK BENCH. Oak Bench/ Pew by Robert "Mouseman" Thompson of Kilburn, North Yorkshire.
Probably a one-off item with masonic connection. The solid plank back carved with square and compass in a circle above a plain seat with lightly inscribed dedication to frieze on turned and carved legs joined by stretchers. The carved mouse can be found to the right front leg.
A lovely example of early Mouseman furniture.
Measurements: Length 1520mm, Depth 430mm, Height 760mm.

Always nice to find a pair, this versatile duo are curiously interesting due to size, quantity and a multitude of eye catching features. Constructed of solid oak throughout, the tables have a strong Heals, Arts & Crafts flavour whilst displaying Art Deco tendencies.
Chamfered edges to frieze bottom and legs, low X stretcher, exposed peg jointed legs and the slightly peculiar corner brackets all contribute to what are a sound, ample sized, decorative and functional pair. Sympathetically re-polished, they are ready for use in the home or on the shop floor.
( Sympathetically repolished to maintain a rich mature colour and level of distressing. Sturdy throughout. Small area of old, treated worm holes evident in a discrete unseen area ).

 FOR SALE : 1930'S ART DECO BENTWOOD OCCASIONAL TABLE Purchased from an old German couple living in a time warp, this piece has personality.
Maybe not Josef Hoffman, but certainly mood setting in that austere, Austrian German, secessionist manner. The combination of dark fumed bent wood, with a solid black area, in this case glass top, are typical features which further confirm its origins. A style which continued to influence the deco of the 20's and 30's in the region, now go to present a smart, distinctive little addition to any collection.
Timber is in excellent repolished condition. The original black glass top has some heavy scratching.

Found in a small, late Victorian village school the influences of its day can be found in subtle touches. Arts & Crafts canted edges to the door panels, quality nouveau handles.
More interesting than most with it's distinctive, bold proportions, the bookcase has been sympathetically revived to maintain character whilst the float glass panes and pitch pine grain further enhance it's distinctive charm.
